Good morning, book friends! I feel like a broken record at this point, but another month has gone by and my reading is still suffering and I feel like I’ve talked about every other book I own in 10 different ways. Does anyone else feel a bit burnt out? I know it’s 100% the pandemic’s fault because if I didn’t have kids home 24/7 I would have brain space to read and be creative, but they’re stuck with me for the foreseeable future, and of course I love getting all this extra time with them, but ya know-it’s exhausting!
Ok, enough of me being a Debbie downer. Let’s talk the books I did get to read this month. So, last week I went out and snagged the only copy of How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories from my local bookstore, and I read the whole thing in one sitting after the kids were in bed. It’s really not hard to do and I bet most of y’all did the same because it’s tiny! I did enjoy what I read, but I felt like it could have been so much more. It was a Cardan short story for goodness sakes and I wanted more Cardan in the end! There was not enough self loathing in my opinion and it just felt a little off. Anyway, the art totally made up for it.
